Fundraising Walking Expedition

Posted on 12 May 2015

The School Club Zambia team is planning an epic journey this summer. To help educate and provide positive futures for vulnerable children in Zambia, they will be undertaking a hugely challenging walking expedition in July 2015.

Following ancient cattle driving trails, the planned route is c. 250km of harsh bush terrain, from the banks of Lake Kariba all the way to Livingstone and the mighty Victoria Falls! On foot by day and under canvas by night it should take the 5 walkers about 14 days all being well…

The objectives of the walk are to;
•    Raise funds needed to implement a new school run enterprise at Chisyabulungu Community School in Sinazongwe District, Southern Zambia. The proposed Carpentry Workshop will generate desperately needed income for the school and provide vocational education opportunities for vulnerable children many of whom are orphans and living below the poverty line.

The minimum fundraising target is set at £7000 (c. $10,500), however all efforts are going into exceeding this target so that we can help enable more schools to become self-sufficient.

•    Create wider awareness of the importance of community schools in Zambia, the challenges they face and the vital services they provide to vulnerable children.

The School Club Zambia envisions a Zambia where every child has access to high quality, vocational and creative education and where education leads to job security and life opportunities for the nation's youth.

The walk will wrap up on Wednesday 12th August with a celebratory event at The Victoria Falls Waterfront.
